Deep in the heart of Dallas

I'm back in Texas for the 3rd time this month. It's a new city (Dallas), so there are many new things to see and do. I'm looking forward to a good week and seeing many "clients".

Waiting and watching

My therapist recommends I join Weight Watchers for the "positive group influences of a food health life". I have been living (or not living) with an eating disorder for about 6 years and my weight has gone way down and way up. I've been very success for about the past six months but I often feel myself slipping. This week has been specially difficult. I know my own symptoms and triggers and I work to move past them. She (the therapist) is suggesting that surrounding myself with healthy food people is much better than struggling at home with snacks. I know she's right and tonight is my first meeting.
Wish me luck and I'm going to post my progress. Hopefully it will help as an inspiration and keep my honest.

Soldier and iPod

I love this!

What an amazing picture and what a telling status of the times. Is it the iPod, the gun or the desert bdus? Look where we've come to that the technology is such common place.

Progress? Yes I think so.

I hope this soldiers safe.

Interstate 95 Speedway

I'm a frequent driver of I-95 in Virginia. Those of you who drive this too know it's 3 lanes of as fast as you can driving. While I don't agree with driving above the speed limit, sometime I'm just keeping up with the flow of traffic. I've never been pulled over by the police, until today, TWICE.
I was driving and listening to Opie and Anthony (I enjoy talk radio while I'm driving and I know they are wrong in so many ways....I can't help but laugh)and I looked down and saw I was driving over 80. I was keeping up with traffic so I didn't think much of it, until the lights showed up in my rear view. We moved over to the side and "talked" about my speed. While I must of been having a good karma day because I drove away with a warning.
Fast forward several miles to just outside the beltway and I saw the lights again. I pulled over and we did the dance again. I was so v v surprised when I got another warning. I took this as a definite sign and keep it within legal limits for the rest of the trip.
I think I should have played the lottery or gambled tonight, because it's really my lucky day.

Shock and Awe?

It's been three years since we learned about shock and awe. I thought (maybe?Did anyone?) we were fighting the war on terrorism (if you're not with us you're against us), keeping America safe from weapons of mass distraction and freeing a nation for a horrible dictator. Maybe 3 years later we've accomplished one of these, but I'm not really sure?
What I do know for sure is too many men and women have lost their lives or been injured. The numbers are devastating and they grow everyday. I can't forget out soldiers fighting, working and supplying the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan. They work everyday for our freedom and will continue until they are called home. These soldiers are heroes everyday.

I'll get off my soap box now, but if you'd like to help our military personnel I suggest checking out Any Soldier. They do a great job helping getting soldiers the extra "stuff" they need.

Also, a special "hey you" to the soldier in Afganistan. I'm thinking about you.

I'm trying to take more photographs and "save" more of my experiences. It's working very well so far, and I'm totally enjoying it.
I'm home from Texas....the cast and me had a difficult trip, but finally made it home.

If it's Thursday.....

If it's Thursday, I must be in Chicago!

Good morning, I'm waiting for the snow and trying to get out of Chicago on time today. I had a great time yesterday and last night. Chicago is such a cool city and I wish I had more time.

The next stop is Texas (again) and then home on Saturday. I'm excited because warm weather, fresh guacamole and margaritas are all on my schedule.

See ya'll at the Alamo.

A Step Forward

I've been dealing with my mother's death relatively well. I have bad days (really bad) and I have good days. On the good days, I think about her, remember how wonderful she is and smile. The bad days, I miss her so much and almost can't do anything that doesn't remind me of her.
Today, is a good day. I didn't feel sad today and knew I was strong enough to move her boxes out of my dining room. I'm not opening them yet.... I'm just moving them. While it might not seem like much to you (they are just boxes) it's a HUGE deal for me. A few weeks ago I couldn't look at them without tears coming to my eyes. I walked around them, put a blanket on top (so I couldn't see her handwriting from the last time she moved) and the cat even slept on them.
The boxes are now sitting my the spare room until I'm ready to look inside. I know the day will come, but I'm not ready yet.
It's still a good day.

Catch me I'm falling

I fell and I broke my arm. I wish I could say I was involved in some extreme sport, strenuous activity or even rescuing a kitten from a tree but I was just walking. Yes, I was walking and I tripped (over my own feet) and fell! I've never been a klutz and I think it's because I was carrying many things and wasn't paying attention. I broke my wrist (from trying to break my fall) and shattered my elbow.
I'm wearing a great pink cast and have to wear it for at least six weeks. It's going to take me awhile to get use to this and I'm not quite sure how I'm going to take a shower, but I'll be alright. It doesn't hurt too much and I'm grateful I didn't break a tooth or knock myself out.

I hope you've had a better day.

Planes, trains and automobiles

I'm finally home from my travels to Texas. I really had a great time but (as always) it's good to be home. I have a quick trip again tomorrow and then a break for a week.

I hope to post some photos from my trip soon, so be on the look out.

Good times and good nite

Hey Ya'll!

Good Morning from Houston!
It's a beautiful warm and sunny day, and I'm happily missing the messy weather on the east coast. I'm spending the next week here work at a trade show and visiting some customers (clients to you...hehehe).
